Everything to know about IPL Auction 2023

The IPL Auction 2023 will be helmed in Kochi and the action will kick off at 2:30 PM IST.

The mini-auction for the Indian Premier League (IPL) 2023 is all set to take place tomorrow i.e. December 23, as franchises seek to make their first move much before the new season.

With ten teams vying for the main prize in Indian cricket, big names such as Sam Curran, Mayank Agarwal and Ben Stokes will be on the teams’ radar. The auction consists of five sets – Batters, Wicket-keepers, Pacers, All Rounders and Spinners. The first set will include some of the world’s renowned players, Ajinkya Rahane, Curran, Stokes, Kane Williamson, Jason Holder, and many more. The forthcoming event isn’t a mega auction, which took place earlier this year but it has the full potential of generating excitement in the auction room due to the stature of the players involved.

The IPL Auction 2023 will be helmed in Kochi and the action will kick off at 2:30 PM IST and will continue until late at night.

There are a total of 87 slots available across the 10 teams (50 Indian, 30 overseas), with a number of 405 players set to compete.

With little money left but plenty of room for improvement, the 2023 IPL auction guarantees to be a frenzy of teams frantically striving to enhance their squads. The franchises’ excessive spending to get their desired players is a common theme in mini-auctions because the demand is high but the supply is limited.

According to the rules, each franchise should not spend more than 75% of the total budget. There will not be a Right to Match (RTM) card option in the IPL Auction 2023. Every franchise’s squad will have at least 18 players and a maximum of 25.
