Disney’s Head of Corporate Development Prateek Garg quits

After joining Star in 2012, he has worked on building Star’s television business into a leading content-led digital enterprise.

Prateek Garg, Head of Corporate Development — Direct-to-Consumer & International, APAC, The Walt Disney Company, has decided to quit the organisation after his lengthy association with the network.

Two of the high-profile employees of Star, Anil Jayaraj and Gulshan Verma also had quit their respective positions in order to join Viacom 18 and Jio respectively.

Soon after that, there were reports that three team members holding key leadership and management positions in the organization have resigned from the company. The three employees who reportedly quit were Sunil Pasricha, Vice President-Traffic & Presentation, Star Sports; Vignesh V, Vice President — Sales, Strategy, Brand Solutions, Star Sports/ Hotstar; and Anupam Joshi, Vice President — Customer Strategy & Marketing, Star India.

The cycle continues with Garg’s resignation from the established company. 

He was also one of the employees who had been with the company for many years and played a key part of former Disney and Star India chief Uday Shankar’s team.

He was responsible for holding strategic projects for the APAC and India regions for the company. After joining Star in 2012, he has worked on building Star’s television business into a leading content-led digital enterprise.

The former Star employee also worked closely in building the network’s portfolio in the sports business and helped in launching their most successful digital platform Disney+ Hotstar.

Garg also led the sports team to successfully secure the highly sought-after marquee sports rights like IPL, BCCI, and ICC and was closely involved in the network’s plans to build into domestic sports leagues like Indian Super League (ISL) and Pro Kabaddi League (PKL).
