DAZN extends Serie A and Ligue 1 rights in Germany and Austria; secures new rights in Switzerland

These three-year media rights deals with Serie A and Ligue 1 demonstrate DAZN's commitment to bringing the best of elite football to fans in their respective markets.

The global streaming platform, DAZN has developed an extension of broadcasting rights for the Serie A and Ligue 1 in Germany and Austria. Importantly, these fresh deals will also make DAZN the exclusive broadcaster for these tournaments in Switzerland for the first time.

These noteworthy three-year media rights deals with Italy and France’s top-tier leagues demonstrate DAZN’s commitment to bringing the best of elite football to fans in their respective markets. These domestic league deals also include exclusive broadcasting rights for Italian Cup competitions.

DAZN’s elevated football rights in Switzerland, where it already broadcasts German and English domestic football, are another step in the business’s growth plan. The agreement offers an important array of rights in one of the globe’s biggest media markets, as well as an increasingly digitally connected consumer base.

While DAZN customers in Germany and Austria have had access to the French and Italian leagues since 2021, the next season will be the first time DAZN will provide live Ligue 1 and Serie A coverage in the region.

Alice Mascia, CEO of DACH and Group CMO at DAZN, said, “With the renewal of Ligue 1 and Serie A, DAZN remains the first port of call for international football fans. I am particularly pleased that we are also showing Ligue 1 and Serie A in Switzerland for the first time – with language options for German, French and Italian.”

DAZN is devoted to providing its subscribers with an accessible and unique location that brings together an otherwise fragmented fan experience. DAZN’s revolutionary technology enables the platform to provide the league’s vast assortment of live and on-demand programming in ways that increase and improve access for overseas fans. Football is a truly international sport, and DAZN’s scale allows it to engage current fans while also reaching new viewers.

Martin Aurenche, Chief Media Officer at LFP Media, said, “We are delighted to expand our partnership with DAZN in Germany and Austria, where the popularity of Ligue 1 has reached record levels in recent years. We are equally excited to extend this partnership to Switzerland and benefit from DAZN’s innovation and editorial expertise to bring the performances of players such as Embolo, Rieder and Zakaria to life.”
