The French television channel, Canal+ has announced a renewal of its media rights to the English top flight, the Premier League (PL).
As per the extension, the channel will provide coverage of all 380 matches per season in France. It will also be shown on myCanal as well as its digital channel, Canal+Premier League.
Additional countries with exclusive rights include Vietnam, the Czech Republic, Slovakia, and Switzerland (French only).
Speaking on the renewal, Maxime Saada, Chairman and CEO of Canal+ Group, said, “We are delighted to have acquired the exclusive broadcast rights to the Premier League for several key regions of the Group. Above all, it is a source of great pleasure for our subscribers, who unanimously recognise the Premier League as the most competitive championship in Europe, with the best clubs and players on the planet involved. Founded in 1984, Canal+ is a French premium television network. The Groupe Canal+, which is owned by Vivendi, owns the entity entirely. The station airs a variety of content, most of which is encrypted. Free access to unencrypted programming is available on Canal+ and Canal+ Clair through satellite.
