County Cricket 2021: Dane Paterson signs for Nottinghamshire

English County Club Nottinghamshire on Tuesday announced the signing of South African right-arm pacer Dane Paterson for the 2021 season. The seamer will represent the county team across all formats.

The South African fast bowler will take up one overseas slot for Nottinghamshire. He has represented his nation 14 times in test matches, with his most recent appearance in two Test Matches against England last year. Paterson had previously played four ODIs and eight T20Is for South Africa since his debut in 2017.

Since his debut in first class cricket in 2009, Paterson has so far picked 355 wickets across 103 matches, which includes 13 five-wicket hauls and a best figures of 7-20. The former Cape Cobras player has 115 wickets in List A cricket and 91 wickets in T20 to his name.

As per the statement issued by Trent Bridge, Nottinghamshire Head Coach Peter Moores seems to be very satisfied with their decision to sign the Proteas pacer,. He is hopeful that the fast-bowler will be valuable for the county side, provided his experience in all formats both domestically and internationally.

“In the case of Dane, we believe we’ve found a player of international quality, playing at the top of his game and who we think will represent the club in the right way on and off the field. He adds quality and experience to our squad and we’re all looking forward to seeing him represent Nottinghamshire,” the Head Coach said.

Paterson is aware of the strict bowling practice regime in the Trent Bridge suggests that this is something that attracted him to the Notts. The South African is excited to be able to represent the world renowned venue and call it his home, is looking forward to play at the Bridge.
