Formula 1 lands broadcast renewal with Brazilian TV group Band

According to new agreements, the group will also be able to show practice sessions of the racers on its TV channel exclusively.

Formula 1 has renewed its broadcast rights with the Brazilian media group, Bandeirantes for another three years, until 2025.

As per the renewal, the media group also known as ‘Band’ will continue broadcasting the qualifying races and Grand Prix races on its TV channel, Rede Bandeirantes.

Formula 1, abbreviated as F1 is an international motor racing competition. It is the highest level of professional single-seat, open-wheel and open-cockpit motor racing competition.

According to new agreements, the group will also be able to show practice sessions of the racers on its TV channel exclusively. The previous deal was valid till 2022, but with the renewal, the brand has acquired rights for the 2023-2025 F1 races.

In 2021, Band replaced the previous rights holder Globo to acquire the rights for the 2021-2022 racing tournament. The group made comeback after its 41-year absence from Formula 1. The deal also launched F1TV Pro in Brazil which was not included in the previous agreement.

Ian Holmes, Director of Media Rights and Content Creation at Formula 1 said, “Formula 1 has always had a significant presence in Brazil and an illustrious history associated with the country so it’s fantastic that through these deals, we’re able to make the sport as widely available to as many fans as possible.

“We are delighted to be working with Band for a further term and continue the impressive growth that we witnessed last year and are able to combine their free-to-air coverage, with the addition of the Claro partnership that enables the more avid fan access to even greater levels of archive and original content.”

Denis Gavazzi, Sports Director of Grupo Bandeirantes de Comunicação said, “Formula 1 is the main sport product of Grupo Bandeirantes.

“I believe that the continuation of the partnership between Band and Formula 1 is the result of the good work done from last year until now.

“It is important to emphasise that Band and Formula 1 are partners in Brazil and will always work together for the growth of the category in our country.”
