Uttar Pradesh revs up for MotoGP

This agreement has guaranteed the annual hosting of the prestigious MotoGP racing event at the Buddh International Circuit in Greater Noida from 2025 onwards.

The subnational government of Uttar Pradesh has signed a historic five-year deal with Dorna Sports, the sport’s commercial rights holder, to bring the prestigious MotoGP races to the Buddh International Circuit in Greater Noida.

This agreement has guaranteed the annual hosting of the prestigious motorcycle racing event from 2025 onwards.

This collaboration has marked a significant step for Uttar Pradesh’s global sporting ambitions. The Buddh International Circuit, already renowned for hosting Formula One, successfully held the MotoGP Bharat event in September 2023.

Chief Secretary and Infrastructure and Industrial Development Commissioner (IIDC), Manoj Kumar Singh, expressed his enthusiasm and said, “Bringing MotoGP to Uttar Pradesh not only elevates our state on the global sports stage but also catalyzes substantial economic growth across tourism, hospitality, and associated sectors. This event will magnetise visitors worldwide, spotlighting Uttar Pradesh’s prowess in hosting world-class sporting extravaganzas.”

The extended MotoGP commitment is a positive development for Uttar Pradesh for motorsports fans and the state’s overall growth. The influx of international visitors and the global exposure are expected to generate a significant economic boost. This event could also benefit local businesses with increased service demand and potentially lead to infrastructure improvements to accommodate the influx of visitors.

Looking ahead, this agreement has the potential to solidify Uttar Pradesh as a premier destination for international sporting events, attracting other motorsport events and further propelling the state’s growth in the tourism sector.
