PCB announces schedule for Pakistan Women’s tour of South Africa

Pakistan Cricket Board has announced the Pakistan Women’s tour of South Africa for limited-over series. The women’s cricket will be touring SA to play three T20 Internationals and as many One Day Internationals from January 20 next year.

According to PCB, the team would be flying on January 11. They will be attending a seven-day practice and intra-squad games in Durban. Prior to the South African tour, women’s team will be attending a training and preparation camp from December 20 at Hanif Mohammad High-Performance Centre in Karachi.

Pakistan’s women selection committee had invited 27 women cricketers from all over the country for the training camp. The committee would then select an 18-member squad for the tour of South Africa.

Women’s chief selector and head of the women’s cricket, Urooj Mumtaz said, “It is critical for women’s cricket that we continue to invest in the game in these difficult times. I am delighted that Cricket South Africa have agreed to host us for a full tour despite having already qualified for the ICC Women’s World Cup 2022.”

Currently, Cricket South Africa is going through some hard time as the limited-overs series against England was cancelled due to coronavirus outbreak in the bio-bubble. The series between Pakistan and South African Women would be CSA’s chance of regaining trust of other cricket boards as the Men’s teams from Sri Lanka, Pakistan, and Australia are scheduled to tour after them.
