MotoGP picks up pace in Assen as Dutch coverage secured until 2029 by Ziggo Sport

Ziggo Sport will provide live coverage of every race, qualifying and practice sessions, along with Moto2, Moto3, and the FIM Enel MotoE World Championship.

Dorna Sports, the commercial rights holder of MotoGP, and Ziggo Sport, the leading Dutch pay-TV sports broadcaster, have inked a five-year extension to their existing agreement.

This extension has ensured uninterrupted access to exclusive live coverage of the world’s premier motorcycle racing series through the 2029 season.

The expanded partnership guarantees comprehensive MotoGP broadcasts on Ziggo Sport. The broadcaster will provide live coverage of every race, qualifying session, and practice session, along with Moto2, Moto3, and the FIM Enel MotoE World Championship.

Ziggo Sport goes beyond live broadcasts, offering viewers in-depth pre- and post-race analysis from their expert commentators. Exclusive interviews with riders and teams will provide a truly immersive MotoGP experience.

Commenting on the extension, Marcel Beerthuizen, Director of Ziggo Sport, said, “The interest in MotoGP in the Netherlands is growing enormously, partly thanks to the spectacular races full of overtakes and different winners, and of course due to the success of Collin Veijer in Moto3. Ziggo Sport is committed to further growing this sport and allowing all motorsport fans in the Netherlands to enjoy the successes of our national heroes.”

Dan Rossomondo, CCO of MotoGP rights holder Dorna Sports, added, “Ziggo Sport has proven to be a great ambassador for MotoGP in the Netherlands over the past three years. Together, we continue to promote the world’s most exciting sport in the country and we can see that clearly paying off in 2024 as audiences soar. With Ziggo Sport, we have a forward-thinking partner with extensive knowledge and expertise, offering top quality MotoGP content on the various Ziggo Sport platforms. We’re very happy to continue working together.”

Ziggo Sport, available exclusively to Ziggo subscribers on channel 14, is the Netherlands’ most versatile sports channel. Its extensive programming boasts a wide range of international and national sporting events. The channel broadcasts competitions like LALIGA, Ligue 1, Serie A, FA Cup, UEFA Champions League, Wimbledon, Davis Cup and more.

This announcement coincides with the ongoing MotoGP season. The racing action now moves to the TT Circuit Assen for the prestigious 75th edition of the Dutch TT, held during MotoGP’s 75th anniversary year.

Currently, Jorge Martin (Prima Pramac Racing) leads the rider standings with 171 points after seven races. Francesco Bagnaia (153 points) and Marc Márquez (136 points) remain hot on their heels, promising a thrilling battle for the championship.

For viewers in India and the South Asia region, MotoGP coverage is retained by Eurosport India for another three years. The next race takes place on Sunday, June 30, at 5:30 PM IST.
