IPL 2023 RR vs DC: Bowlers run riot on DC batters, earn two vital points for RR

Following this victory, the Jaipur-based unit are back to winning ways and are now placed first on the points table.

In the 11th match of the Indian Premier League (IPL) 2023, Rajasthan Royals (RR) defeated Delhi Capitals (DC) by 57 runs at the Barsapara Cricket Stadium in Guwahati.

DC captain David Warner won the toss and elected to ball first. It was a great start for the first-ever champions of the IPL as both the openers, Yashasvi Jaiswal (60) and Jos Buttler (79), smashed bowlers all around the park. While Jaiswal straightaway put forth gears on, Buttler chose the anchors role. Both the batters hammered 11 fours and one six in their 98-run partnership which created a massive base for the forthcoming batters. Towards the end, Shimron Hetmyer (39*) also played a handy knock in quick succession. The southpaw batter hit one four and four sixes which took RR to a total of 199 runs in 20 overs.

In the chase, DC struggled straightaway in the first over as they lost two massive wickets. Captain Warner (65) was the lone warrior but even his inning looked quite dull. Nevertheless, the skipper scored seven fours before he lost his wicket in the penultimate over. Lalit Yadav (38) was the only other batter who looked impressive but then again, there was no help from the other end. DC only could get to 142 runs from their 20 overs.

With the ball for RR, Trent Boult was lethal upfront in the powerplay as he plucked three wickets. Along with Boult, Yuzvendra Chahal also bagged three wickets in his quota of four overs. Furthermore, Ravichandran Ashwin picked two wickets while Sandeep Sharma grabbed one while defending the score.

While bowling in the first innings, Mukesh Kumar grabbed two wickets. One wicket each was also bagged by Kuldeep Yadav and Rovman Powell.

Following this victory, the Jaipur-based unit are back to winning ways and are now placed first on the points table.

Scorecard:

Rajasthan Royals: 199/4, Overs 20, Jos Buttler 79, Mukesh Kumar 2/36

Delhi Capitals: 142/9, Overs 20, David Warner 65, Yuzvendra Chahal 3/27
