India tour of South Africa 2023–24 2nd Test: Match preview, head-to-head and streaming details

India and South Africa have encountered 43 times in Test cricket in which the Men in Blue won 15 matches and SA prevailed in 18 matches.

In the second Test match of the two-match series, India will take on South Africa at Newlands in Cape Town tomorrow, January 3, at 2:00 PM IST.

A dream to clinch a Test series win in South Africa once again remains incomplete as Team India faced a humiliating defeat in the first Test. Nonetheless, the Rohit Sharma-led side will aim to level the series and share the coveted trophy. The Newlands is a venue where India have never won a Test match but this fact will hardly matter when the new blood of India tries to go hard on the Proteas. While veterans KL Rahul and Virat Kohli were the only batters to perform in the first Test, the likes of Shubman Gill, Yashasvi Jaiswal, Shreyas Iyer, skipper Sharma, and more will have to find their touch. With the ball too, Prasidh Krishna was unimpressive on his debut and thus might get replaced with Avesh Khan. Another change the squad can expect is the return of Ravindra Jadeja in place of Ravichandran Ashwin

For the home team, it will be mostly about Dean Elgar playing his final Test match. The batter outperformed every aspect of the game by smashing 185 in the first Test. The stand-in skipper will also aim for a whitewash, which might add another feather to his cap. In the bowling department, Kagiso Rabada, Nandre Burger and Marco Jansen, are all pretty much in good form and will try to maximise their chances of limiting India to a low score once more.

Head-to-Head:

South Africa and India have played each other 43 times in Test cricket. While the Men in Blue have won 15 games, South Africa has won 18. 10 matches also concluded in a draw.
