For the auction, the BCCI has decided to boost the purse for each team by INR 5 crore.

The Indian Premier League (IPL) 2024 is certainly a few months away, but before that, the most anticipated IPL Players Auction for the 17th edition of India’s premier event is all set to take place tomorrow, December 19, 2023 at the Coca-Cola Arena in Dubai at 1 PM IST.

It will be a mini-auction as teams attempt to fill the positions that are vacated by players after being released and retained. There were 1166 players from all around the world that enrolled for the auction, but only 333 were chosen, including 214 from India and 119 from other countries. Nevertheless, 77 maximum spots are on hand across 10 teams, with 30 of them reserved for overseas cricketers. Taking into account their areas of speciality, the players have been split into 19 sets: wicketkeeper, spinner, fast bowler, batter, and all-rounder.

For the auction, the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) has decided to boost the purse for each team by INR 5 crore. Lucknow Super Giants (LSG) have the least remaining purse of INR 13.15 crore, while Gujarat Titans (GT) have the most remaining purse of INR 38.15 crore. Up to 23 players have kept their base price at INR 2 crore on the auction list.

Furthermore, Mitchell Starc is expected to earn a high price at auction. Rachin Ravinder, Philip Salt, Wanindu Hasaranga, and Pat Cummins will also be at the top of this list.
