Asia Cup 2023 Final India vs Sri Lanka: Men in Blue clinch Asian title for record-extending eighth time as Siraj demolishes SL batters

Following this win, India have become the Asia giant for the record-extending eighth time.

In the Final match of the Asia Cup 2023, India defeated Sri Lanka by 10 wickets at the R. Premadasa Stadium in Colombo.

Sri Lanka won the toss and asked India to bowl first. It was pure carnage by Mohammed Siraj, as he completely demolished SL batters in the first few balls of the match itself. While Jasprit Bumrah delivered the first wicket of the match, Hardik Pandya also showcased top form with the ball, which restricted the home side to just 50 runs.

In the chase, both Indian batters, Ishan Kishan (23*) and Shubhman Gill (27*), finished off the game comfortably in just 6.1 overs. While Kishan hit three fours, Gill hammered six fours.

Sri Lankan batters looked terribly lost in the first innings, losing six wickets in just 5.4 overs with just 12 runs on the board. The wicketkeeper batter Kusal Mendis (17), Dunith Wellalage (8), and Dushan Hemantha (13) were the only players who got few runs for the side.

With the ball for Team India, Siraj picked up six wickets in which he secured a fifer in just 16 deliveries, becoming the joint-fastest in ODI history. Along with him, Hardik Pandya got three wickets, while Jasprit Bumrah also scalped one.

Siraj was adjudged Player of the Match for his exceptional bowling show. Following this win, India have become the Asia giant for the record-extending eighth time.
