SBT nets media rights for Copa América Femenina

SBT will broadcast all of Brazil's matches.

SBT, a Brazilian commercial network, has acquired licenses for this year’s Copa América Femenina, which would be held in Colombia from July 8 to July 30.

The Copa América Femenina is the most prestigious tournament for women’s association football in the CONMEBOL. CONMEBOL declared in December 2020 that the tournament will be played every two years rather than every four years, beginning in 2022.

The Sistema Brasileiro de Televisão (SBT or Brazilian Television System) is a Brazilian broadcasting company formed by the entrepreneur and Media personality, Silvio Santos on August 19, 1981. SBT was Brazil’s second-most-watched television channel in April 2018, after only Globo.

After winning the 2018 Copa América Femenina in Chile, Brazil are the reigning champion.

SBT will broadcast all of Brazil’s matches, including the CONMEBOL’s national team championship final.

The 10-team women’s competition will be divided into two five-team groups, with the top two teams from each group advancing to the semi-finals. On July 9, Brazil will face Argentina, Uruguay on July 12, Venezuela on July 18, and Peru on July 21.

Last year’s men’s Copa América, which was held in Brazil and won by Argentina, was also televised on SBT. The UEFA Champions League (UCL) and UEFA Europa League (UEL), as well as South America’s Copa Libertadores, are also displayed on the channel.
