Spanish soccer team Real Madrid has teamed up with the US media company Cinedigm to expand its distribution of the La Liga club’s in-house streaming channel in North America.
This deal will see Real Madrid TV accessible in the US and Canada for linear and advertising-based video on demand (AVOD) platforms on connected TVs, media streaming devices, digital set-top boxes and the web.
Real Madrid TV, which is available in English and Spanish for the 2021/22 season, will show two to three fixtures per week, covering La Liga, the UEFA Champions League and domestic cup competitions.
The channel will also provide exclusive club insight, classic programming and breaking news. The live training session, exclusive interviews, live press conferences and magazine shows will also feature. Content of over 8,000 hours will be available annually.
This channel adds to Cinedigm’s roster of distribution partners including Pluto TV, Samsung, TCL, Roku and Tubi.
“Soccer is the most popular sport in the world with an extreme level of fandom,” said Erick Opeka, President of Cinedigm Digital Networks. “Partnering with Real Madrid, and giving this global club an exclusive home to many of the biggest OTT distribution partners in North America, will allow viewers to experience never before released content in the United States.”
“Fans will feel like they are part of all the action with interviews, matches and news they can’t get anywhere else, and the content will be refreshed weekly to keep fans engaged.”
