New Orleans Pelicans pen down a first-of-its-kind deal with TripADeal

The first-of-its-kind pact has enabled TripADeal to become New Orleans Pelicans' official online travel agency.

The National Basketball Association (NBA) side, New Orleans Pelicans have penned down a global partnership with the Australian-based online travel agency, TripADeal.

This newly unveiled association is the first Australian international team marketing plan in the NBA, which permits teams to acquire a maximum number of 10 international commercial partners apart from the United States and Canada.

In addition, the first-of-its-kind pact has enabled TripADeal to become the Pelicans’ official online travel agency. The collaboration also provides fans with an opportunity to win Pelicans VIP trips along with earning and using its Qantas Airline points for varied basketball experiences in New Orleans and across the United States.

TripADeal has also been appointed the presenting partner of Pelicans content during NBA Summer League 2023, as per the arrangement.

Commenting on the association, Pelicans PresidentDennis Lauscha, said, “We are thrilled to partner with TripADeal to help create memorable once-in-a-lifetime experiences for basketball fans worldwide. With the NBA becoming increasingly popular in Australia, this partnership allows us to grow fan engagement and develop interactive opportunities with the passionate basketball fanbase in Australia and its surrounding markets.”

“Since drafting Dyson Daniels last year, we have seen tremendous enthusiasm and support from fans in Australia and we look forward to building stronger connections with the Australian basketball community through our partnership with TripADeal,” said Pelicans Executive Vice President of Basketball Operations David Griffin.

TripADeal, currently owned by Qantas, was founded by Norm Black and Richard Johnston in 2011. The Australian travel agency provides its customers with bucket list tours, hotel escapes and cruises at reasonable prices. TripADeal is currently headquartered in Byron Bay and the entity has satellite offices in Brisbane and the Gold Coast.

TripADeal Co-Founder and Co-Chief Executive Officer, Richard Johnston, added, “We’re proud to be the first Australian organization to sponsor an NBA team and to be doing it with such a reputable organization as the New Orleans Pelicans. The popularity of basketball and the NBA in Australia is at an all-time high, with close to a dozen Aussies now playing in the league. We see tremendous upside in being able to provide money-can’t-buy experiences for these fans.”
