Aramco fuels esports growth in Saudi Arabia with EWC pact

As the official title partner of the Aramco SIM Arena, esports enthusiasts can get behind the wheel of state-of-the-art racing simulators, replicating the thrill of Formula One racing.

The Esports World Cup (EWC), the premier international esports tournament, has partnered with Aramco, a global energy leader.

This collaboration has brought the world’s second-biggest company by revenue and a major player in esports sponsorships to the global esports championship. Aramco’s involvement has signified its dedication to the Saudi vision of economic diversification and youth empowerment through esports.

The eight-week-long festival kicks off on July 3, offering more than just pro-level competition. As the official title partner of the Aramco SIM Arena, esports enthusiasts can get behind the wheel of state-of-the-art racing simulators, replicating the thrill of Formula One racing. This partnership builds on Aramco’s existing support for initiatives like Gamers Without Borders and the Gamers8 festival.

Aramco, owned by the Saudi Arabian government, is the world’s second-biggest company by revenue and holds the title of the largest oil producer. The company’s reach extends beyond oil, as the entity is also a major player in natural gas and chemicals. Aramco is actively involved in sports sponsorships, recently becoming the official energy partner of CONCACAF and renewing its multi-year title sponsorship with the Formula 1 team, Aston Martin Aramco Formula 1 Team.

The Esports World Cup has already secured an impressive roster of sponsors, including stc Group, LG UltraGear, adidas, KITKAT, Barn’s Coffee, and Sony Group Corporation.

The Esports World Cup promises to be the biggest and best yet, transforming Riyadh into a global hub for esports enthusiasts. Held within Boulevard City, elite esports clubs will vie for a record-breaking $60 million prize pool, the largest in esports history. The tournament features competitions in 22 of the world’s most popular online games, including League of Legends, Overwatch, and Fortnite.
