Vegas Golden Knights team up with Scripps Sports to broadcast games for free in Nevada

Vegas Golden Knights and Scripps are dedicated to working together to give fans a direct-to-consumer streaming alternative.

The National Hockey League (NHL) team, Vegas Golden Knights have announced a multi-year partnership with the American broadcasting company, Scripps Sports.

As per the partnership, the broadcasting entity will be able to locally broadcast Golden Knights games for free to the people living in Nevada and surrounding states.

This deal will allow all non-nationally exclusive Golden Knights games to be broadcast by the E.W. Scripps Company with full distribution on cable, satellite, and broadcast television.

The local station KMCC-TV of Scripps, which presently broadcasts content from ION, the company’s national entertainment network, will broadcast the Nighthawk games.

This will also include the re-branding of KMCC, channel 34 as an independent station before the start of the NHL 2023-2024 season.

As part of this relationship, the Golden Knights and Scripps are dedicated to working together to give fans a direct-to-consumer streaming alternative. When the plans are complete, specifics will be disclosed.

Every game will be broadcast, with pregame and postgame coverage included. Additional distribution will take place in Idaho (Boise, Idaho Falls, and Twin Falls), Montana (Billings, Butte-Bozeman, Glendive, Great Falls, Helena, and Missoula), Nevada (Reno), Utah (Salt Lake City), and Wyoming (Casper-Riverton and Cheyenne-Scottsbluff).

Kerry Bulboz, CEO and Team President, Vegas Golden Knights, said, “This deal is a significant win for our fans because they will be able to see our games on television and for free, if they wish. That was our goal in finding a new TV partner. We wanted to serve our fanbase in the best way possible.”

Brian Lawlor, President of Scripps Sports, said, “We have been impressed by the Golden Knights’ commitment to winning and their desire to connect and engage with fans in Vegas and outer markets, as well. This is going to be a wonderful partnership, and it’s the fans who will benefit most. We launched Scripps Sports with the belief that we could help teams reach more fans through our stations, which do not depend on subscriptions and added fees for the consumer.”

The E.W. Scripps Company is a multifaceted media organization committed to fostering greater global knowledge. As one of the biggest local TV broadcasters in the country, Scripps provides communities with dependable, unbiased local journalism and runs a network of 61 stations across 41 areas.
