Sony Sports Network to air India’s first FIFA World Cup 2026 Qualifier match against Kuwait

India's first FIFA World Cup 2026 Qualifier match against Kuwait will also be streamed online on SonyLIV.

The Indian football governing council, the All India Football Federation (AIFF) has announced that India’s first FIFA World Cup 2026 Qualifier match against Kuwait is all set to broadcast live on India’s top premium sports broadcasting network, Sony Sports Network.

To be precise, the match will be aired on Sony Sports 2, and along with this, it will also be streamed online on Sony’s OTT platform, SonyLIV.

The game, which is the first match of the second round of qualification, will be contested today at the Jaber Al-Ahmad International Stadium in Kuwait City. The match will begin at 10 PM IST.

Notably, there is also no confirmation on whether the Sony network will air all of India’s FIFA 2026 WC Qualifiers matches.

Group A includes Asian champions Qatar, Kuwait, and Afghanistan. For the third round of FIFA World Cup Qualifiers, only the top two teams from each group will progress. Each group’s top two teams will also advance to participate in the AFC Asian Cup in 2027.

The Sunil Chhetri-led side has never advanced past the second round of the Asian Football Confederation (AFC)’s FIFA World Cup qualifiers. Nevertheless, an innovative structure this time around, given that the 2026 World Cup will have eight teams from Asia, gives Igor Stimac‘s team an opportunity to create history. However, given the close competition in Group A, a solid start to the campaign will be vital.
