AFA, adidas enhance long-standing collaboration till 2038

Under the extended agreement, adidas will continue to design and supply kits for all Argentine Football Association's national teams.

The Argentine Football Association (AFA), the governing body of football in Argentina, and the sportswear giant, adidas, have inked a monumental extension to their existing partnership.

This 14-year renewal has solidified the collaboration until 2038 and signifies a deep commitment from both parties.

Under the extended agreement, the German sportswear brand will continue to design and supply kits for all La Albiceleste’s teams, including the senior men’s and women’s sides, along with all youth squads. This has ensured the iconic three stripes will be a mainstay on the international stage as Argentina contends in major tournaments like the FIFA World Cup and Copa America.

Commenting on the association, AFA President, Claudio Tapia, said, “We are delighted to forge a new partnership with Adidas until 2038. Our partnership spans several decades and this new long-term commitment allows us, as an organisation, to drive the success of our national teams and invest in our communities. We are proud of the recent successes we have shared, but will continue to focus on growing our game and on-pitch performance… in this respect, and many more, Adidas is the perfect partner for us.”

Adidas, CEO, Bjoern Gulden, said, “The AFA, the reigning FIFA Men’s World Cup Champion, is one of the most successful federations in history. We have celebrated many successes together and are very proud to announce that “We will continue our collaboration, at least, until 2038. It is a perfect alliance!”

The AFA-adidas partnership boasts a rich history dating back to 2001. Together, they’ve equipped the team from South America during historic moments, including the Copa America 2021, the triumphant FIFA World Cup 2022 campaign, the Finalissima 2022, and the Argentine women’s team’s groundbreaking debut at the FIFA Women’s World Cup 2023.

This extension strengthens adidas’ position as a dominant force in the sportswear industry. The German giant, renowned for its three-stripe logo, remains Europe’s leading sportswear company and a global powerhouse.

The athletic apparel company recently secured a partnership to outfit Cristiano Ronaldo‘s team, Al Nassr FC, from the 2024-25 season. The German giant is also the official sporting goods partner of prestigious clubs like Eintracht FrankfurtAFC Ajax and Aston Villa FC. Additionally, the Three Stripes recently announced a landmark partnership with the Esports World Cup Foundation, solidifying its commitment to innovation across the sporting landscape.

This announcement coincides with La Selección’s ongoing quest to defend their Copa America title. Currently leading Group A after two convincing wins, the team sets its sights on its next challenge against Peru on June 30 at 5:30 AM IST.
