The Japanese diesel engine, heavy machinery and agricultural machinery manufacturer, Yanmar has signed an extended deal as the official sponsor for the Southeast Asian Football Championships which is set to be held from December 2022 to January 2023.
The event, recognised as the AFF Mitsubishi Electric Cup 2022, takes place every two years. Yanmar’s sponsorship has also previously supported the tournaments in 2016, 2018, and 2020.
The tournament is the biggest sporting event, with teams from 11 ASEAN Football Federation (AFF) member countries vying for the top spot.
Across this competition, Yanmar will undertake multiple communications operations in Southeast Asian countries.
Tsutomu Murayama, Head of the Sports Business Office of Yanmar, said, “Yanmar aspires to be a driving force in nurturing prosperous lifestyles in Southeast Asia. As well as supporting people’s lives with products, services, and solutions in the agriculture and fishery industries, which play an important role in the economies of Southeast Asia, Yanmar will also deliver exciting and enriching experiences and share the joy and excitement that soccer can create.”
Yanmar is clustering its collaborative efforts in the region under the campaign #Football is our engine – Challenge for tomorrows, together – in conjunction with the AFF Mitsubishi Electric Cup 2022 Sponsorship. The statement emphasises the interest in supporting those who continue to challenge for the long term, with football serving as a driving force for Southeast Asians.
Yanmar will continue to take part in operations that promote culture and nurture the next generation through sports, because the firm believes that sports, like the engine that powers the company, can be a driving force in achieving a prosperous society.
