WPL 2025: Delhi Capitals partner with MSD Pharmaceuticals to promote cervical cancer prevention

MSD and Delhi Capitals are pushing women to meet with their gynaecologists and take preventative measures to lower their risk through this effort.

The Women’s Premier League (WPL) team, Delhi Capitals (DC) have inked a strategic partnership with MSD Pharmaceuticals to promote cervical cancer prevention in India.

The alliance uses the expanding influence of women’s sports to teach women and families about the significance of preventative healthcare and proactive actions against cervical cancer.

Through this, Delhi Capitals will prominently display this important statement on the leading arm of their playing jersey—marking the first time a women’s athletic team has worked for a preventive health cause on a national scale.

Cervical cancer, mostly caused by Human Papillomavirus (HPV), is a major health concern in India, with 123,000 cases identified each year. Nevertheless, it is avoidable with early detection and vaccination. MSD and Delhi Capitals are pushing women to meet with their gynaecologists and take preventative measures to lower their risk through this effort. The alliance also aims to de-stigmatize debates, enhance access to information, and motivate preventive action.

Rehan A. Khan, Managing Director, MSD India Region, emphasized the urgency of this movement, said, “Cervical cancer is preventable, yet it continues to impact thousands of women across India. At MSD, we are committed to empowering women with the knowledge and resources needed to take charge of their health. Partnering with Delhi Capitals provides us with a powerful platform to reach millions and drive meaningful action toward prevention and early detection. This collaboration is more than an awareness campaign—it’s a movement for a healthier future for women in India.”

Sunil Gupta, Chief Executive Officer, Delhi Capitals, said, “Women’s cricket has seen phenomenal growth, and we’re proud to use our platform to support a cause that can positively impact millions. This partnership with MSD allows us to champion cervical cancer awareness and encourage proactive health measures among women across the country.”

This campaign intends to achieve long-term change by incorporating health advocacy into sports, encouraging open talks, preventive action, and fostering a culture that prioritises women’s health.
