The Women’s Premier League (WPL) team, Mumbai Indians (MI) had a blockbuster start to their inaugural edition of the historic competition as they thrashed Gujarat Giants (GG) by 143 runs. Before hitting the ground running in the first match, the team did some major developments off the field, as well.

Back in January, Reliance Industries Limited, the team’s owner, spent INR 912.99 crore to secure the rights to own and run the Mumbai-based WPL franchise. Charlotte Edward and Devika Palshikar are the team’s head and batting coaches, respectively while Jhulan Goswami was named the bowling coach and mentor.
