The World Padel League (WPL) is set to return with its most ambitious season yet, promising an electrifying five-day spectacle of intense competition from August 12 to August 16, 2025, at the Nesco Centre in Mumbai.

Padel enthusiasts across India and beyond can brace themselves for an expanded format, two brand-new franchises, and an even more formidable lineup of international and local talent.

Building on the sport’s soaring popularity, the WPL is strategically expanding from four to an impressive six franchises. This significant growth underscores a strong belief in the league’s vision and padel’s rapid ascent in India.

While the names of the two new teams are still under wraps, their inclusion is poised to ignite fresh rivalries and introduce a wider pool of talent to the league.

Expressing excitement for the upcoming season, Hemali Sharma, Co-Founder of World Padel League said, “The growth of padel in India has been a journey to watch out for. Just six months since our last edition, Season 3 of the WPL marks a major milestone as we expand the scale of competition and set new benchmarks for the sport. India is fast emerging as a high-potential growth hub for padel. Our ambition goes beyond fostering the sport as we aim to craft a dynamic, world-class sporting experience that captivates seasoned fans and first-time audiences alike.”

Licensed and managed by Iconik Sports and Events Ltd. and supported by the Indian Padel Federation, the WPL has been instrumental in elevating padel’s profile across the nation. The league’s core objective remains steadfast: to seamlessly blend top-tier international talent with local engagement, providing a crucial platform for aspiring Indian players to hone their skills against global benchmarks.

Commenting on the league, Krishnan Kannan, Promoter, Iconik Sports and Events Ltd. said, “When we decided to bring WPL for the Indian audiences early this year, our aim was to scale the league and bring world class action tailored for this rapidly expanding market. With new teams and an extended player roster, Season 3 of the World Padel League is a celebration of the sport’s incredible progress and a glimpse of where it’s headed. The energy this season is electric, and the journey has just started.”

Sneha Abraham Sehgal, President, Indian Padel Federation added, “The World Padel League has played a crucial role in elevating padel’s visibility in India. With a growing ecosystem of players, clubs, and infrastructure investments, the country is poised to become a key padel destination in the region. Initiatives like the WPL blend international talent with local engagement, giving budding players the encouragement to elevate their game at par with global standards. We are happy to extend our continued support to the league.”

Previous seasons have drawn an impressive roster of elite international padel players, including renowned World Padel Tour and Premier Padel stars. The Indian debut in February 2025 alone featured 32 global talents, showcasing the likes of Claudia Fernandez, Marta Ortega, Jon Sanz, and Alejandra Salazar. With the league’s expansion, fans can anticipate an even richer tapestry of skilled athletes, promising high-octane matches and unforgettable moments.

The five-day event in August is expected to follow the thrilling format of previous editions, likely featuring intense men’s, women’s, and mixed doubles matches, culminating in a grand finale. As details of the full player roster and the new franchises are progressively revealed, the excitement for the World Padel League’s third season is set to reach a fever pitch. Padel in India is not just growing; it’s thriving, and the WPL’s third season is poised to be its most significant leap yet.
