The reigning Premier League champions, Liverpool Football Club, have announced their membership in the Women in Football (WIF) Club Membership Programme, reinforcing the club’s commitment to promoting gender equality across the workplace.

The partnership aims to provide Liverpool FC’s growing female workforce with tailored professional development opportunities, complementing the club’s existing Red Together strategy, which champions equality, diversity, and inclusion both on and off the pitch.

Through the collaboration, Liverpool FC will implement a comprehensive suite of initiatives to support and empower women within the organisation. The programme offers group workshops to raise awareness and encourage cultural change around gender inclusion, access to industry research and insights on workforce dynamics, coaching and mentoring from WIF’s expert consultants, and participation in the prestigious Women in Football Leadership Course. Each element is designed to build upon and enhance the initiatives already underway through Red Together.

April Tomlinson, Senior Vice-President, People and Culture at Liverpool FC, expressed her enthusiasm for the partnership and said, “We’re delighted to join Women in Football’s club membership programme and offer this opportunity to our female workforce. This is a great opportunity for our people. We’re proud of the work we already do through our Red Together strategy and pleased we can build on this with Women in Football’s support and mentoring. Red Together is our commitment to equality, diversity, and inclusion and encompasses everything we do internally and externally.”

Yvonne Harrison, CEO of Women in Football, welcomed Liverpool FC to the programme, highlighting the significance of the club’s involvement, and added, “I’d like to extend a very warm welcome to Liverpool Football Club. Having a club of Liverpool’s stature among our club members demonstrates the importance of Women in Football’s work, as well as our growing influence in the game. It’s great news for the club and its workforce, and we are delighted we can add value to their existing work in building a great environment for their team to thrive. We know organisations perform at their best when their culture is as inclusive as possible, and we’re looking forward to supporting Liverpool to become the most gender-equal employer it can be.”

Women in Football is a professional network of around 12,000 people of all genders committed to supporting equality across the football industry. Its Club Membership Programme, launched in 2021, provides clubs with tailored guidance, mentoring, and resources to enhance workplace inclusivity.

The partnership underscores Liverpool FC’s dedication not only to achieving success on the pitch but also to cultivating an inclusive and equitable environment off it. By integrating WIF’s expertise and resources, the club aims to set a benchmark for equality and inclusion across football.

The announcement also highlights Liverpool FC’s growing commercial appeal. Recent partnerships include brands such as New Era, Haier, Visit Maldives, EC Markets, BAYCREW’S, and adidas.

On the field, the Reds enter the international break in second place on the Premier League table with 15 points. They will resume action against Manchester United on October 19, face Eintracht Frankfurt in the Champions League on October 23, and conclude the month with a Carabao Cup round-of-16 clash against Crystal Palace.
