Wimbledon concludes long-term sponsorship ties with Robinsons

The 2022 Wimbledon Championships is all set to commence on June 27.

The All England Tennis Club (AELTC) has revealed that the Wimbledon Grand Slam tennis championship has ended its 86-year collaboration with the UK beverage brand, Robinsons.

The agreement was Wimbledon’s second-oldest partnership, trailing only the championship’s 120-year accord with Slazenger as its official ball supplier.

As per sources, Robinsons’ owner Britvic tried to expand its sponsorship to more of its brands, such as Gatorade, Pepsi Max, and Rockstar Energy, but the AELTC’s reservations about being affiliated with other sugary soft drinks forced the relationship to end last year.

An official statement from the AELTC unveiled, “After more than 80 years, we can confirm that the partnership between the AELTC and Robinsons has come to an end. We are tremendously proud of the historic association with Robinsons over so many years, and thank them for the wider role they have played in supporting Wimbledon and tennis across the UK.”

This statement was released after the drinks brand announced on Twitter that it is no longer affiliated with the tournament as a partner.

“Robinsons is no longer sponsoring Wimbledon fortnight and this year will be celebrating the whole of summer with The Big Fruit Hunt – an interactive opportunity to find virtual fruit and win real prizes,” the statement said.

The most awaited 2022 Wimbledon Championships is all set to commence on June 27 and will run until July 10.
