The Wrestling Federation of India (WFI) and the Inspire Institute of Sport (IIS) have renewed their high-performance partnership through 2029, reinforcing a long-term commitment to elevate India’s wrestling ecosystem as the country targets sustained success at future Olympic Games and international championships.
The renewed agreement extends a collaboration that began in 2022 and will continue to underpin India’s preparations for the Los Angeles 2028 Olympic Games and beyond. The partnership is designed to strengthen the national wrestling programme by combining WFI’s athlete development framework with IIS’ expertise in high-performance training, sports science and performance management.
IIS will continue to work alongside WFI during national coaching camps and athlete development initiatives, delivering integrated support across strength and conditioning, physiotherapy, nutrition, sports medicine, recovery, performance analytics and data-driven athlete monitoring. The institute will also provide access to its world-class high-performance campus in Vijayanagar, Karnataka, where wrestlers will benefit from international-standard coaching and multidisciplinary support services.
Beyond elite athlete preparation, the collaboration will continue to focus on long-term talent development through scholarship programmes, support for national wrestling championships and coach education initiatives, helping create a stronger pipeline of wrestlers across junior and senior categories.
The extension further strengthens IIS’ position as one of India’s leading Olympic high-performance centres. Backed by JSW Group, the institute has built an integrated athlete development ecosystem across disciplines, including wrestling, boxing, athletics, swimming and judo, with a strong emphasis on science-led training and international best practices.

Since launching its wrestling programme in 2017, IIS has supported the development of more than 90 wrestlers, who have collectively won over 120 medals across national and international competitions. The programme has nurtured several of India’s leading wrestlers while establishing a sustainable pathway for emerging talent.
The renewed agreement also complements IIS’ broader international collaborations, including its partnership with United World Wrestling (UWW), further enhancing the institute’s technical capabilities and global knowledge exchange. By extending their collaboration through 2029, WFI and IIS are seeking to build a stronger, more sustainable high-performance system capable of producing consistent success for Indian wrestling on the world stage.
