Wendy’s partners with UTSA as presenting sponsor of women’s athletics

The University of Texas at San Antonio (UTSA) Department of Intercollegiate Athletics, has announced a new partnership with Wendy’s.

The fast-food chain will serve as the presenting sponsor of UTSA Women’s Athletics beginning in the 2024-25 academic year.

As part of the multi-year agreement, the burger joint will enjoy prominent branding opportunities at UTSA women’s basketball, volleyball, soccer, and softball events. The collaboration aims to enhance the fan experience while increasing visibility for the Ohio-based burger chain and UTSA Women’s Athletics.

Commenting on the new partnership, Lisa Campos, UTSA Vice President for Intercollegiate Athletics, said, “We are excited to partner with Wendy’s and are grateful for their support of UTSA Athletics. Wendy’s dedication to serving and connecting with the local community puts them in perfect alignment with our own mission. This partnership will help bring greater awareness to the UTSA brand and, particularly, our women’s athletics programs.”

The partnership signifies a significant milestone for both organizations, underscoring their shared commitment to excellence and community involvement.

The restaurant chain has a strong history of supporting women’s athletics, serving as the official hamburger of March Madness and the official hamburger of the Women’s National Basketball Association‘s (WNBA) Dallas Wings.

Founded in 1969, Wendy’s is renowned for its made-to-order square hamburgers using fresh, never frozen beef, as well as its salads, chilli, baked potatoes, and Frosty desserts. With approximately 7,000 restaurants worldwide, the fast-food chain and its franchisees employ hundreds of thousands of people and aspire to become the world’s most beloved restaurant brand.

UTSA offers 17 NCAA Division I sports as a member of the American Athletic Conference. Since its inception in 1981, the university has garnered 80 conference championships, over 60 NCAA postseason appearances, and more than 50 All-Americans.
