The National Hockey League (NHL) team, Washington Capitals have signed a multi-year deal with the casino company Caesars Entertainment. This makes the hockey team the first in NHL history to land a jersey patch sponsor. All the terms and conditions of the deal have not been disclosed. It has been revealed that the Washington Capitals will receive $6 million per year from Caesars Entertainment. The jersey patch sponsorship has been allowed by the NHL very recently. Teams are now allowed to have a 3 by 3.5-inch space on their jerseys for sponsors.
The deal has been signed in agreement with the team owner Monumental Sports & Entertainment (MSE). The Caesars Entertainment logo will be featured in the home and third jerseys of the Washington Capitals at their home ground Capital One Arena starting from the 2022/23 season. The hospitality space and VIP seating will also feature the Caesars Entertainment branding.
“Together as two industry leaders, we’ve built a robust partnership in the gaming and casino space, and our overall relationship reflects our shared commitment to providing sports fans with world-class, unique experiences,” said Jim Van Stone, president of business operations and chief commercial officer at MSE.
“MSE, the Capitals and Caesars share a commitment and passion toward innovation in the sports and entertainment space, and the opportunity to incorporate Caesars onto Capitals home jerseys is a wonderful development and exciting new fan engagement opportunity for both organizations in the nation’s capital.”
