Voot acquires media rights for Tamil Nadu Premier League 2022

One of India’s biggest OTT platforms, Voot has secured the media rights for the sixth edition of the Tamil Nadu Premier League (TNPL).

Voot is an Indian over-the-top (OTT) service that was launched back in 2016. It is owned by the media company Viacom18. It has recently acquired the media rights for Poker Sports League. Viewers can watch the entire league live on the platform.

The sixth season of TNPL which begins on June 23, 2022, will be exclusively available on the platform for cricket fans across India. This project will expand Voot’s library of unique content.

The TNPL, which debuted in 2016, has developed to become Tamil Nadu’s main Twenty20 cricket competition. The league will include eight clubs from eight districts in Tamil Nadu, competing for a total of 32 matches.

The league will start with the opening match between Chepauk Super Gillies and Nellai Royal Kings on June 23 and the final will take place on July 31, 2022.

R S Ramasaamy, TNPL Secretary said, “The streaming of sports content, especially cricket, on OTT platforms has created a massive viewership base and Voot has emerged as a big player in recent times in this segment. We hope this association will make TNPL more popular by bringing in new viewers.”

Given the league’s increasing popularity, as a brand we wanted to ensure that Tamil Nadu Premier League is available to a wider set of audiences.
