The former Indian team skipper, Virat Kohli has invested an undisclosed amount in packaged coffee products maker, Rage Coffee. The start-up announced the onboarding of the cricketer on Wednesday through their social media handles.
In this agreement, Kohli will also be the brand ambassador of the company. Last year in August 2021, Rage Coffee raised USD 5 million in the Series A funding round helmed by Sixth Sense Ventures.
“Rage Coffee will also use the funds to scale production, launch innovative new products and add senior management talent,” the company said in a statement.
On this association, Rage Coffee Founder and CEO Bharat Sethi said,“Apart from being a world-class athlete, Virat is also a fitness enthusiast, who is committed to an attitude that fosters a healthy lifestyle and it seamlessly aligns with the ethos that Rage Coffee promotes. We are thrilled to have him onboard.”
Kohli said, “The team at Rage Coffee has shown high levels of business execution and stupendous growth over the last couple of years…I see tremendous potential for the brand to become one of the most iconic coffee companies of our time.”
With this agreement, Kohli adds Rage Coffee to its investment portfolio alongside Sport Convo, Galactus Funware Technology Pvt Ltd, Universal Sportsbiz, Digit, Chisel Fitness and Hyperice. Earlier this year, the 33-year-old along with his wife, Anushka Sharma also invested and joined as brand ambassadors of a home-grown plant-meat brand, Blue Tribe.
On the field, the ace batsman will be seen donning the Royal Challengers Bangalore (RCB) jersey from March 27 in the Indian Premier League (IPL) 2022.
