Virat Kohli backed Digit Insurance reaches $3.5 billion valuation

Digit Insurance was founded as Go Digit General Insurance Co. back in 2017 by Kamesh Goyal and became a unicorn when it was valued at $1.9 billion in January.

Virat Kohli is one of the biggest sports superstars in the world and his backing the fintech start-up firm Digit Insurance is now valued at $3.5 billion after raising $200 million in a series of funding. Along with TVS capital, Virat Kohli was one of the earliest investors of the company and is even the brand ambassador for digit.

Digit who recently raised $200 million from Sequoia Capital India, Faering Capital Pvt, has been one of the biggest funding rounds in the country. Digit’s approach to the insurance market has been making payments easier by allowing for an online payment mode also making claims acquisition available by mobile phones and process service requests by messaging.

Digit Insurance was founded as Go Digit General Insurance Co. back in 2017 by Kamesh Goyal and became a unicorn when it was valued at $1.9 billion in January, after attracting investors from all over the world after finding investors like TVS capital, Prem Watsa and Indian cricket team captain, Virat Kohli. Digit raised about $442 million almost doubled their valuation in January indicating a sale increase of 44% in the fiscal year 2020-2021.

Virat Kohli has been heavily invested in supporting firms and investing capital, Owning the ISL side FC Goa, investing in the fashion brand Wrogn, Stepathlon kids and now Digit. Kohli continues to influence the market with his investments, and it also helps the companies grow.

Recently Kohli was named one of the highest earners on Instagram with each post earning him $6.800k per post.
