The National Level Vasai Virar Municipal Corporation Marathon, to be held on December 8, 2024, has launched online registrations for its 12th edition.
Mr Anilkumar Pawar (IAS), Commissioner of the Vasai Virar City Municipal Corporation, unveiled the news during a press conference held in Mumbai. Mr Sanjay Herawade, Additional Municipal Commissioner, and Prakash Vanmali, Head Coordinator, Marathon Organising Committee, were also in attendance, as were officials from the event’s partners.
The sporting event will be hosted by the Vasai Virar City Municipal Corporation and the Vasai Taluka Kala Krida Vikas Mandal, with Aryanz Sports PR & Events serving as the promoter.
Two new partners were also unveiled during the event. Fast&Up will be the energy partner, while the renowned Prakriti Hospital will be the medical partner.

Talking about the event, the registration costs for the full marathon, half marathon, and 10K will be INR 850 along with taxes and convenience charges, while the 5K will be INR 800 plus taxes and convenience fees. Participants will be given a branded t-shirt, timing bib, 3D medal, breakfast, water and energy drinks, a free photograph, and a timing certificate. Registration is available via the event website, www.vvmm.in.
Age Categories: To inspire the elderly and senior folks to keep fit by jogging, the commissioner revealed the inclusion of three age categories in the event. The Full Marathon for women will include an age group of 55 and over, while the 10K and 5K distances will add divisions for men and women aged 60 and up, respectively.
The Commissioner also confirmed the revival of the Battle Run, which is an exclusive event for Running Clubs. The Vasai Virar Municipal Corporation Marathon is the only race that is entirely for running clubs, and the top five clubs will get prize money of INR 3 lakhs.
Clubs can propose four-person teams for the Battle Run, one of which must be a woman. Only one person can be under the age of 25. The Battle Run is designed to aid amateur runners and will be available to men and women with timings slower than 1.35 and 1.45 hrs, respectively.
The cumulative finishing time of the four members will determine the winners. The top club will receive INR 90,000, followed by INR 70,000, 60,000, 45,000, and 35,000, respectively.
For the 12th consecutive year, the Marathon will promote the motto “Avoid Female Foeticide, Maintain Nature’s Balance”. Furthermore, the goal of this tournament is to assist athletes improve physically and psychologically while also preparing them to participate at the state, national, and international level.
