Uttarakhand government appoints Rishabh Pant as brand ambassador

The 24-year-old Pant represented India in 25 Tests, 18 ODIs, and 41 T20Is so far.

The Indian wicketkeeper and swashbuckling batsman Rishabh Pant has been named as the brand ambassador of the Uttarakhand state. The Chief Minister of Uttarakhand, Mr Pushkar Singh Dhami announced the news on Twitter stating that the Indian batsman will encourage youths in the state to adopt sports in their life.

The 24-year-old Pant represented India in 25 Tests, 18 ODIs, and 41 T20Is so far. He has scored 1549 runs in his Test career, the hard-hitting batsman has got 529 runs to his name in ODIs. The left-handed batsman has 623 runs at a strike rate of around 125 in T20I cricket.

The southpaw is also the captain of Delhi Capitals in the Indian Premier League (IPL) and was retained by the franchise ahead of the IPL 2022 mega auction. Pant has appeared in 84 IPL matches till now and has scored approximately 2500 runs at a tremendous strike rate of 147.46.

CM Pushkar Dhami tweeted, “One of the best cricket players of India, the idol of youth and son of Uttarakhand, Rishabh Pant has been appointed as “State Brand Ambassador” by our government to encourage the youth of the state towards sports and public health.”

The Delhi Capitals skipper also thanked the Chief Minister for the opportunity. He further stated that he would do his best to inspire people to exercise.

Pant tweeted, “Thank you @pushkardhami sir for giving me the opportunity to be the Brand Ambassador of promoting Sports and General Health among the people of Uttarakhand. I’ll do my best to spread this message and feel happy that you are taking these steps towards a fitter India,”

He added, “Coming from a small town of Roorkee, I am confident that the people here have the ability to make the country proud in various fields of life.”

The attacking middle-order batsman who was rested for the New Zealand Tests is presently in Johannesburg, South Africa, where the Indian team will lock horns with the Proteas in a three-match Test series starting from December 26.
