UP Yoddhas signs sponsorship deal with ABP News

PKL has been attracting massive sponsorship interest ever since it was founded back in 2014.

Pro Kabaddi League team UP Yoddhas announced the signing of a deal with the Indian Hindi news channel ABP News.

The deal will see ABP News become the principal sponsor of UP Yoddhas for the 2021-22 season of the PKL.

The Indian professional-level Kabaddi League has been attracting massive sponsorship interest ever since it was founded back in 2014.

ABP Network CEO, Avinash Pandey said, “Everyone in the country watches cricket and it takes all the major sponsorship deals. Kabaddi is a homegrown sport and is our very own. As Prime Minister has iterated to focus and uplift sports in India, ABP is doing something similar, just like Kabaddi, ABP Network is also homegrown and is tailored for India’s audience. As we came across this opportunity (to be associated with UP Yoddha), it struck a chord with us. We will take this bond ahead and make the game even more popular.”

Keeping the popularity of the league in mind, the deal will benefit ABP Network greatly as it will help them reach a wider audience and will receive a better outreach.

The last edition of the PKL saw UP Yoddhas finish in third place with 74 points in 22 games, season 8 of the league which was scheduled to be held in 2020 had to be cancelled due to the pandemic.

Ahead of the deal, Col. Vinod Bisht, CEO of GMR League Games said, “As we represent India’s largest state, it was natural to associate with giants in the Hindi heartland, which is ABP. It was a natural bond for us to be associated with ABP News.”
