UAE becomes home venue for Afghanistan cricket fixtures for next five years

The ECB will also lend logistic support to the ACB.

The Afghanistan Cricket Board (ACB) and Emirates Cricket Board (ECB) have signed a five-year mutual agreement.

In this development, the UAE will host Afghanistan’s home fixtures. This move was followed by the political situation in Afghanistan. This association will allow ACB to make use of premium UAE stadiums like the Dubai International Stadium, Sharjah Cricket Stadium and Sheikh Zayed Cricket Stadium in Abu Dhabi. In addition, the ECB will also lend logistic support to the ACB.

The General Secretary of the Emirates Cricket Board (ECB) Mubashir Usmani, stated, “We are happy to support the ACB in ensuring that they have a home for their cricket.”

He added, “We are also thankful to the Afghanistan Cricket Board for agreeing to play a series of T20I matches against UAE team each year. This will provide our UAE team with invaluable exposure and help in their development.”

Prior to this arrangement, the Afghanistan cricket team had been playing and carrying out practice sessions on a series-to-series basis.

Before the ICC Men’s ODI World Cup 2023 in India, Afghanistan is all set to host Pakistan, Australia and West Indies in three ODIs each along with Zimbabwe across formats.
