Tower Sports-SportzWorkz bags PCB’s production rights

Media companies Tower Sports and SportzWorkz have extended their association with the Pakistan Cricket Board by agreeing to a new production deal.

As per this deal, the two media companies have been awarded production rights for Pakistan-Zimbabwe limited over series, domestic National T20 Cup, and Quaid-e-Azam Trophy first-class tournament. This deal was agreed after an invitation to tender process was given to PCB’s pre-qualified production partners.

In February, the PCB appointed Tower Sports and SportzWorkz to handle broadcast production for the 2020 Pakistan Super League, the first edition of the T20 competition to be played entirely in its home country.

The latest production deal comes after PCB agreed a new three-year domestic broadcast rights and cable distribution contract with state broadcaster PTV Sports and I-Media Communication Services, respectively.

PTV Sports signed a satellite broadcast deal with I-Media to ensure cable distribution and the contracts will run through the next three years. The agreement has been structured to provide increased revenues until the end of the contract. The deal expects to earn in excess of $200 million over the three-year period.

Babar Hamid, the Director Commercial at PCB, said, “This is another milestone in our renewed vision of providing top-quality coverage of domestic cricket and Pakistan’s international home fixtures. The consortium of Tower Sports and SportzWorkz worked with us in producing the HBL PSL 2020, and we have full trust and confidence in their ability to deliver quality and world-class production for the two most coveted tournaments of the 2020-21 domestic season and the Pakistan-Zimbabwe home series. What excites us further is the development of a local talent production pool that can deliver a complete Pakistan-based production in the years to come, which we are confident will match the quality produced around the world.”
