The Premier League (PL) club, Tottenham Hotspur Football Club have announced a new multi-faceted partnership with bp pulse, the electric vehicle charging business of bp, and Castrol, a leading lubricant brand also owned by bp.
bp pulse, bp’s electric vehicle charging arm, has been named the official EV charging partner of Tottenham Hotspur Stadium. This collaboration signifies a shared commitment to expand the availability of charging stations within the stadium complex. This initiative aligns with Spurs’s ongoing efforts to minimize environmental impact, particularly by encouraging fans to adopt sustainable travel options for match days.
Castrol, meanwhile, has become the official partner of both the men’s and women’s teams. A key element of this partnership is the establishment of an “Away Fans Travel Fund.” This dedicated fund aims to subsidize travel costs for fans attending select away matches, further promoting eco-friendly travel practices among the Lilywhites supporters.
Castrol will also collaborate with the club to develop engaging experiences for fans and customers through digital initiatives and activations held internationally.
Commenting on the association, Ryan Norys, Chief Revenue Officer, Tottenham Hotspur, said, “We are delighted to be partnering with yet another world-renowned brand in bp. The partnership will offer exciting opportunities for our fans and customers across the globe, while helping supporters travel to our matches sustainably through subsidised, shared travel and increased EV provision.”
Nicola Buck, Senior Vice President of Marketing for bp, said, “With our history of football partnerships, we’re delighted to unite with Tottenham Hotspur. As a brand that values performance and innovation we see a natural alignment with the Club’s values and aspirations.
“This partnership not only gives us the opportunity to connect with football fans globally, it gives us a great opportunity to bring our customers and consumers closer to the action on the football pitch too.”
Castrol, a British company now owned by bp, started in the early 1900s and is a world leader in lubricants for vehicles, machinery, and more. The name “Castrol” comes from the original use of castor oil in the formulations. The lubricant brand has a long history of sponsorship in sports, with legendary Indian cricketers Sachin Tendulkar and Rahul Dravid as brand ambassadors. The brand has also served as the official engine oil partner of the recently concluded Premier League season.
bp, a global energy giant headquartered in London, is involved in all aspects of the oil and gas industry, from exploration and extraction to refining, marketing, and even electricity generation. Notably, both bp and Castrol previously served as official performance partners for the Indian Premier League (IPL) team, Mumbai Indians (MI).
On the pitch, the club finished the 2023-24 season in fifth place and secured qualification for the UEFA Europa League.
