The female-only single-seater racing championship, F1 Academy has announced a groundbreaking partnership with the global fashion giant, Tommy Hilfiger.
The renowned brand will now stand as an official partner of F1 Academy. As part of this collaboration, Tommy Hilfiger will craft one of the five partner liveries for the 2024 season.
The Spanish driver Nerea Marti, making her return for a second season with Campos Racing, will proudly represent Tommy Hilfiger. Marti’s suit and car will prominently feature the brand’s iconic red, white, and blue colour scheme.
In the 2023 season, Marti clinched fourth place in the Drivers’ Standings. Notably, she secured victory in Le Castellet, marking her as F1 Academy’s eighth different race winner. Marti also achieved five podium finishes and one pole position during the inaugural season.
Under this agreement, Tommy Hilfiger will take on the responsibility of designing and supplying F1 Academy staff uniforms, further solidifying its presence within the racing community.
Susie Wolff, MBE, F1 ACADEMY Managing Director, said, “Tommy Hilfiger is one of the most recognised global lifestyle brands, so it is a great honour to welcome them to F1 Academy as an Official Partner. “Tommy Hilfiger is fully invested in our mission to improve female representation in motorsport, and their global brand platform will appeal to those outside of the motorsport world and help us to reach new audiences. I would like to personally thank Tommy and his team for sharing our vision and supporting a talented young driver in Nerea Martí.”
Tommy Hilfiger said, “The world of racing is developing at an incredible pace and the F1 ACADEMY is at the forefront of this movement. “I look forward to working with Managing Director Susie Wolff, leading driver Nerea Martí and the entire F1 ACADEMY team as they break barriers in a traditionally male-dominated sport.”
Tommy Hilfiger, renowned in global fashion since its inception in 1985, has established a tradition of diverse collaborations across art, music, fashion, and sports. Notably, the brand’s engagement with Formula 1 has centred on sponsorship deals with teams. A standout partnership emerged with the McLaren F1 team in the late 1990s and early 2000s, where Tommy Hilfiger became the team’s official clothing sponsor in 1998. This collaboration saw McLaren drivers such as Mika Hakkinen and David Coulthard prominently showcasing Tommy Hilfiger-branded team apparel, both on and off the track.
Last week, F1 Academy also announced its collaboration with Charlotte Tilbury.
The 2024 F1 Academy season comprises seven rounds across three continents, marking the first time all weekends are held in support of Formula 1. The season will be conducted at Saudi Arabia’s Jeddah Corniche Circuit from March 7-9.
