The Open renews partnership with Mercedes-Benz

Mercedes-Benz renewed its alliance with The R&A and devotion as official patron and official car at The Open for another year.

The Open has announced an extension of its partnership with the famous car manufacturer, Mercedes-Benz for the 150th anniversary of the championship at the Old Course in St Andrews, Scotland. The Old Course is organizing the championship for the record 30th time this year, and nearly 300,000 audiences will witness the world’s finest golfers at the tradition-steeped significant golf championship.

The first high point of championship week is the return of the Claret Jug. Collin Morikawa (USA), the reigning Champion Golfer of the Year, returned the iconic Claret Jug trophy to Martin Slumbers, Chief Executive of The R&A, at the ceremony. Morikawa arrived in an all-electric EQS SUV for the occasion. Through this deal, Mercedes-Benz is taking a major move toward zero-emission mobility with the EQS SUV. The model is completely carbon-neutral in its production.

Since 2011, Mercedes-Benz has been a companion of The R&A, which also runs the only men’s Major Championship held outside of the United States. Mercedes-Benz renewed its alliance with The R&A and its devotion as official patron and official car at The Open for another year.

The deal includes the firm to ensure the mobility of players, officials, and selected guests for the 150th Championship with nearly 100 vehicles. This year, the luxurious fleet will include all-electric vehicles once again.
