The Singapore Open will return to the global golf calendar in 2026 with The Business Times confirmed as presenting partner, marking a significant commercial milestone for one of Asia’s longest-standing professional tournaments.
The 54th edition of the national Open will take place from 23 to 26 April 2026 at the Serapong Course at Sentosa Golf Club, reinforcing its status as a flagship event on the International Series schedule of the Asian Tour.
The partnership represents the first time a leading financial publication has assumed presenting partner rights for the tournament, aligning the Singapore Open with one of the region’s most established business media brands. The collaboration also coincides with The Business Times’ 50th anniversary in 2026, adding strategic significance to the agreement as the publication expands its regional influence and thought leadership footprint.
Chen Huifen, Editor of BT, said, “As The Business Times marks its 50th anniversary this year, our strategic partnership with the Asian Tour in the Singapore Open represents a perfect synergy between two disciplines defined by strategy and foresight.
“For half a century, we have served as Singapore’s leading financial daily, not just reporting on the markets, but championing excellence through our various business awards that mirror our nation’s economic priorities. By anchoring ourselves in this premier regional circuit, we reinforce our commitment to transcending borders—aligned with our own evolution as we bring our trusted financial insights to a wider base of audiences.”
Said Cho Minn Thant, Commissioner & CEO of the Asian Tour, added, “This new relationship between the Singapore Open and The Business Times, two of the country’s strongest brands, is an exciting one that promises to be a win-win.”
“The new partnership is perfectly timed as we prepare for the tournament’s return to Sentosa Golf Club. We thank SPH Media and The Business Times for making this decision. This is phenomenal for the Singapore Open and the Asian Tour, as it means we can reach more audiences through SPH Media’s vast network of media outlets and partners, both in Singapore and throughout the SEA region.”
Joshua Ho, CEO of the Singapore Golf Association, continued, “We are pleased to welcome The Business Times as the presenting partner of the Singapore Open. As Singapore’s National Open, it is important for us to work with strong local partners, and there is positive synergy in this partnership. The Business Times has a strong reach and brings a credible platform to tell more meaningful stories – from the players and competition to the broader impact of golf’s ecosystem in Singapore. This partnership will help strengthen the tournament’s connection with the business community while broadening engagement with golf fans across the region.”
With a prize purse of US$2 million, the Singapore Open remains one of the leading tournaments within the International Series, a group of elevated events designed to attract top international players and strengthen pathways into elite global competitions, including opportunities linked to the LIV Golf League.
The tournament also forms part of the Open Qualifying Series, with two places available for The Open Championship, further reinforcing its relevance within the global golf landscape and increasing its competitive appeal to international fields.
First staged in 1961, the Singapore Open is one of the most historic championships in Asian golf and has consistently attracted elite players from across the world. Its continued inclusion within the International Series reflects the Asian Tour’s broader strategy to enhance the commercial strength and global visibility of professional golf across Asia through premium events and strategic partnerships.
The involvement of The Business Times is expected to expand the tournament’s reach through SPH Media’s regional distribution capabilities, strengthening the intersection between sport, business leadership and corporate audiences in Southeast Asia.
The 2026 edition signals another step in the evolution of the Singapore Open as the Asian Tour continues to position the region as a key growth market within the global golf ecosystem, supported by increased investment, international participation and deeper commercial collaboration.
