Tether Investments, the investment arm of stablecoin issuer Tether, has secured a strategic minority stake in Juventus Football Club, one of Italy’s most prestigious and globally recognized football teams. This move underscores the growing convergence of digital finance and mainstream sports, as Tether diversifies its portfolio beyond stablecoins.

The investment aims to leverage Tether’s technological expertise to explore innovations within the sports industry, focusing on the integration of digital assets, artificial intelligence (AI), and biotechnology.

Commenting on the occasion, Paolo Ardoino, CEO of Tether, said, “Aligned with our strategic investment in Juve, Tether will be a pioneer in merging new technologies, such as digital assets, AI, and biotech, with the well-established sports industry to drive change globally. We will explore avenues for innovative collaborations and the potential to revolutionize the global sports landscape.”

The partnership is expected to facilitate the development of new fan engagement models, potentially incorporating blockchain technology and digital assets. It also aims to foster collaborations that could transform sports management and the overall fan experience.

This acquisition builds on Tether’s previous sports ventures, including the Plan ₿ sponsorship of FC Lugano, demonstrating a clear commitment to the sector. The strategic direction of these initiatives is being guided in part by Juan Sartori, who brings extensive experience from his involvement with Sunderland AFC, AS Monaco, and the European Club Association.
