The Tennis Premier League (TPL), India’s premier professional tennis league, has announced a partnership with the Indian media broadcasting entity, Viacom18.
Following the deal, Viacom18 has been named the official broadcast partner of this marquee tournament for its sixth season.
TPL, which will be held at the renowned Cricket Club of India, Mumbai, from December 3 to 8, aims to provide an unparalleled experience for fans throughout the country via JioCinema and Sports18 networks.
As one of the most awaited sports contests on the Indian calendar, the TPL has quickly established a reputation for its exciting atmosphere and competitive spirit. This season, tennis fans can look forward to the exciting 25-point system, which adds a creative twist to the game and makes top-tier tennis more engaging and enjoyable for viewers at home.
The sixth season of the TPL promises a star-studded roster, including the veteran Rohan Bopanna and current India No. 1 Sumit Nagal. With them on the court will be global stars such as reigning US Open Doubles champion Max Purcell, France’s Hugo Gaston, and Armenia’s Elina Avanesyan, all competing for glory and the prestigious top prize for their respective franchises.
This season stands out not just for its thrilling matches but also for its historical significance in the tennis world. Legendary players Leander Paes, Mahesh Bhupathi, and Sania Mirza will bring their skill and charm to the league with their individual teams, adding to the tournament’s status.
The TPL’s revolutionary concept grabs tennis fans’ passions in a way that is both thrilling and approachable. Each match between two franchises will feature men’s singles, women’s singles, mixed doubles, and men’s doubles, with 100 points on the line. Each category has the same value, awarding 25 points every game. Teams will battle intensely during the league stage for a maximum of 500 points (100 points multiplied by five matches), with the top four teams progressing to the semi-finals.
Bengaluru SG Pipers, the defending champions, will face tough competition from Bengal Wizards, Punjab Patriots, Shrachi Delhi Rarh Tigers, Hyderabad Strikers, Yash Mumbai Eagles, Chennai Smashers, and Gujarat Panthers.
