TCM acquires mandate for IPL closing ceremony

The grand event shall feature AR Rahman, Ranveer Singh, and a plethora of famous musicians.

TCM Platform has been selected by the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) to develop and deliver the closing ceremony of the Indian Premier League (IPL) 2022 on May 29 at the Narendra Modi Stadium in Ahmedabad.

The BCCI had asked India’s leading event and entertainment firms to compete for the contract, which was later given to TCM Platform after a multi-level identification and selection procedure by an expert committee.

Chanda Singh, Director, TCM Platform, said, “It is indeed an honour and a privilege to be given this mandate in this very special year.  Cricket is deeply embedded in the fabric of our nation and creatively we bring the celebration of 75 years of India’s independence and the history of our cricketing achievements together. This is also the year that two new teams have joined the league – truly representative of the diversity of the nation with a singular passion for cricket.”

The grand event shall feature AR Rahman, Ranveer Singh, and a plethora of famous musicians, plus around 500 supporting dancers as well as cast members. Following the recent pandemic years, the closing ceremony of the ongoing edition will be one of the largest live events ever.

“We have mapped every second of our thirty minutes event to entertain, enthral,  delight and pay tribute to the country, to the game that we are so passionate about and to the legends that define its history,” said, Ria Agnihotri, Project lead of the Ceremony.

The 30-min event is designed to include a series of successful moments, including powerful performances, truly groundbreaking broadcast Augmented – reality (AR) technology, as well as amazing live performances.

“For the first time we will use broadcast Augmented Reality to bring alive the different eras of cricket. Along with AR Rahman, this will be a befitting homage to the 15 years of IPL and to game that has given us so much,” stated, Arati Singh, Content Director of the Ceremony.

The ceremony will take place at the Narendra Modi Stadium in Ahmedabad and will begin at 6:30 PM IST on May 29, 2022.
