The 20th edition of the Tata Mumbai Marathon is set to take place on January 19, 2025, with a record-breaking 60,000 runners expected to participate.
This prestigious event, one of Asia’s largest, will feature a diverse range of races, including the full marathon, half marathon, 10K run, a wheelchair race, and a dedicated Senior Citizens’ Run.
Adding to the excitement, the renowned British distance runner, Sir Mo Farah has been appointed as the International event ambassador. A four-time Olympic gold medalist and six-time World Champion, Farah is considered one of the greatest male distance runners of all time. His presence is expected to significantly enhance the marathon’s global appeal.
The Tata Mumbai Marathon has evolved into more than just a sporting event. It plays a crucial role in promoting health and fitness within the community while supporting various charitable causes.

The USD 390,238 event will feature a world-class field, including defending champions Hayle Lemi Berhanu and Srinu Bugatha in the men’s category, and Aberash Minsewo and Thakor Nirmaben in the women’s category. The marathon itself is expected to see the highest participation ever, with 11,791 runners registered. Other race categories, including the Half Marathon, 10K, Champions with Disability, Senior Citizens’ Run, and the Dream Run, have also seen significant participation.
Sir Mo Farah, a Somali-born British runner, boasts an illustrious career with four Olympic gold medals and six World Championship gold medals. He holds the distinction of being the first man to retain both the 5,000m and 10,000m titles at both the Olympics and World Championships, a feat known as the “quadruple-double.” His remarkable career, including an unbroken streak of 10 global final wins, has cemented his place as a legendary figure in distance running. After transitioning to road running, Farah achieved victory at the 2018 Chicago Marathon and holds the World Best for the One Hour Run (21,330m).
