In the 28th match of the ICC T20 World Cup, India will be facing New Zealand at the Dubai International Stadium, Dubai on Sunday, October 31 at 7:30 PM IST.
India will be heading into this fixture on the back of a 10-wicket loss against their arch-rival Pakistan in their first game of the campaign on October 24. After India’s top order collapsed, Virat Kohli stirred the innings but the efforts weren’t good enough to prevent the defeat. The availability of Hardik Pandya as a bowler still remains a mystery. Jasprit Bumrah, Ravindra Jadeja and Varun Chakravarthy were reasonably good in their spells but couldn’t manage to pocket a wicket. The Indian camp will be aiming for a tremendous comeback after not being able to execute plans effectively in the previous fixture.
On the other end, New Zealand also lost to Pakistan in their previous game by five wickets. There were frequent contributions from the top-order batsmen but couldn’t stitch a partnership, bowlers did good enough to take the game till the end. New Zealand is also in a similar condition as their Sunday’s opponent. The Kiwis also need a desperate victory to remain in contention for the title of T20 World Cup. The Black Caps would want the likes of Martin Guptill and Kane Williamson to fire with the bat against the hosts.
Head-to-head:
In the head-to-head competition between the two teams, New Zealand has the upper hand in this fixture. The two teams have faced each other twice in the T20 World Cup, the Kiwis have won both the fixtures comprehensively.
The last outing between the two teams in the T20 World Cup took place in 2016. New Zealand bundled out India for 79 and registered a 47-run victory against the Indians.
