T20 World Cup India vs Afghanistan: Match preview, head-to-head, TV and LIVE streaming details

Afghanistan is yet to beat India in the T20 World Cup.

In the 33rd match of the ICC Men’s T20 World Cup, India will be facing Afghanistan at the Sheikh Zayed Stadium, Abu Dhabi on Wednesday at 7:30 PM IST.

India will be heading into this fixture on the back of two consecutive losses. The former World T20 Champions lost to Pakistan and New Zealand in their first two games of the marquee international T20 league. The unsettled Indian team is quite unsure about their top-order batting lineup. The idea of demoting Rohit Sharma to number three backfired in the previous game as India’s batting order collapsed in the first innings. The consistency of Jasprit Bumrah in both games has been the only positive for India so far in the tournament. The scenario of qualification looks dicey at the moment for India but they would aim to win all the remaining fixtures.

On the other end, Afghanistan registered a mammoth 130-run victory against Scotland on Monday. Afghanistan had a good tournament so far, as they won twice in their previous three fixtures. Apart from the narrow defeat against Pakistan, Afghanistan had gathered a couple of big wins. The opener pair of Hazratullah Zazai and Mohammad Shahzad have been contributing lately and providing a decent start in the powerplay. Afghanistan’s trump card Rashid Khan has been excellent so far with his economical spells and wicket-taking abilities.

Head-to-head:

In the head-to-head competition between the two teams, India has the upper hand as they are yet to face a defeat against Afghanistan in the T20 World Cup.

The two teams have played against each other twice in the T20 World Cup and India has won both the fixtures.

The last outing between the two teams took place in 2012, India beat Afghanistan by 23 runs.
