The Australian Football League (AFL) team, Sydney Swans have inked a sponsorship renewal with the automotive giant, Volkswagen, for an additional five years.
Volkswagen, one of the world’s most famous automobile manufacturers, originally partnered with Sydney Swans in 2011, with the goal of creating creative and unforgettable game-day experiences.
The automaker is a major partner of Sydney Swans men’s and women’s teams, as well as a premier partner of the QBE Sydney Swans Academy, with the distinctive ‘VW’ emblem appearing on AFL, Australian Football League Women (AFLW), and Academy player shorts and coaches’ match day clothing.
Volkswagen has an extensive footprint on Swans match days, boosting the fan experience over time. In 2024, fans will have participated in a variety of activities, notably Pedal Car Power on Driver Ave, the Electric Lounge at the back of Bay 13, and the Swans VW Clappers, which will award $500 to one lucky fan per game.
Volkswagen marks its 70th year in Australia in 2024, while Sydney Swans commemorate 150 years, illustrating that this relationship is more than just a sponsorship; it is a collaboration founded on shared values and mutual respect.
Sydney Swans CEO Tom Harley, said, “Volkswagen is one of the most iconic brands in the world and has been a great supporter of our club for many years, so we are thrilled to extend our partnership into the future. Match days are about the experience of our members and fans, and Volkswagen have played a huge part in creating a fun and exciting atmosphere at the SCG. We look forward to working alongside Volkswagen for another five years.”
Director of Volkswagen Passenger Vehicles, Michal Szaniecki, said, “We are extremely proud to announce the extension of our partnership with the Sydney Swans. From its successes at the elite levels of this most Australian game to its engagement in its grass roots, we look forward to continue supporting both male & female representations of the Swans on and off the field, strengthening our commitment to the community.”
Volkswagen’s collaboration with Sydney Swans has poured $240,000 in grassroots clubs throughout the years through the ‘Footy Assist’ program, with the effort expected to benefit even more local clubs in 2024. Additionally, Sydney Swans and Volkswagen have rewarded members by giving away two automobiles per year to the association.
By expanding this successful agreement, Volkswagen and Sydney Swans will continue to have a positive influence on the pitch and in the community for many years to come.
