Manchester United Football Club have announced a significant long-term renewal of its strategic partnership with STATSports, the global leader in GPS performance tracking technology.

This continued collaboration underscores the club’s unwavering commitment to leveraging cutting-edge sports science and data-driven insights to optimise player development, enhance team performance, and support the vision of Head Coach Ruben Amorim.

Under the terms of the renewed agreement, Manchester United will continue to utilise STATSports’ industry-leading Apex 2.0 GPS performance trackers. These advanced devices are the only performance trackers to have received FIFA‘s highest certification, guaranteeing unparalleled accuracy in capturing crucial on-pitch data during both training sessions and competitive matches for all of the club’s teams, from the Academy to the Men’s and Women’s First Teams.

A key enhancement within the new partnership will see STATSports significantly expand its fixed infrastructure and Local Positioning Systems (LPS). This expansion will cover Manchester United’s primary training facility at Carrington, the iconic Old Trafford stadium, and Leigh Sports Village. This upgraded infrastructure will facilitate even more precise and real-time tracking capabilities, providing the club’s performance staff with immediate and comprehensive data streams to drive decision-making.

Sean O’Connor, Co-founder of STATSports, expressed his enthusiasm for the continued partnership and said, “Manchester United are a benchmark for ambition and excellence.

“This supplier partnership renewal is a testament to their belief in the value of high-performance and our role in delivering it.

“Apex 2.0 trackers enable United’s staff to obtain up-to-date, accurate information in respect of player availability, individual development and team performance.

“With the addition of fixed infrastructure across both training and matchday environments, we’re helping embed a world-class performance culture across every touchpoint.”

Edward Leng, Head of Physical Performance at Manchester United, commented on the renewed partnership and added, “At Manchester United, we’re always looking to push the boundaries of player performance.

“Wearable trackers are a vital part of that process, and we’re grateful for STATSports’ continued support and partnership. Their Apex 2.0 trackers will enable us to unlock deeper insights across all men’s and women’s players in every training environment, from the Academy to the first team.

“By expanding our fixed infrastructure at Carrington, Old Trafford and Leigh, we’ll enhance real-time tracking capabilities, helping us to better prepare, develop and protect our players.”

The in-depth data generated by the Apex 2.0 trackers will provide Manchester United’s coaching and sports science teams with critical metrics for assessing player availability, ensuring accurate and up-to-date information regarding player fitness and readiness. Furthermore, these insights will be crucial for tailoring bespoke training programs and workloads to maximise individual player growth and potential. On a broader scale, the data will also be vital for gaining strategic insights to refine team tactics and optimise collective performance, alongside proactive monitoring of player strain and workload to mitigate injury risks and facilitate effective recovery protocols.

This long-term renewal reaffirms Manchester United’s dedication to adopting the most advanced performance hardware solutions, reinforcing their strategic approach to sports science under the leadership of Head Coach Ruben Amorim as they continue to compete at the highest echelons of professional football.
