The Indian sports broadcasting baron, Star Sports has obtained broadcast rights for the second season of the Pro Govinda League, which is set to take place in Mumbai on August 18, 2024.
16 teams will fight in this widely recognised tournament, which will take place at the Dome SVP Stadium, for the elite cash prize and accolades.
The Pro Govinda League returns this year after a successful debut last year. Due to the enormous demand, the event has been rescheduled for this year, as announced by the Cabinet Minister of Industries (Maharashtra), Mr Uday Samant, during the press conference. The news conference was also attended by MLA Mr Pratap Sarnaik, Founder and Chairman of the Pro Govinda League, Mr Purvesh Sarnaik, President of the Pro Govinda League, Mr Mazhar Nadiadwala, League Director of the Pro Govinda League, and Mr Mohomed Morani, League Director of the Pro Govinda League. The majority of the teams will come from the Mumbai and Thane regions.
The major reward for the winning team is INR 25 lakh, while the runner-up receives INR 15 lakh. Teams finishing in third and fourth place will receive INR 10 lakh and INR 5 lakh, respectively. The league organisers will sponsor all prizes, and the other twelve teams will receive INR 1 lakh apiece. To protect the safety of all participants, the league has put in place a thorough plan that includes medical facilities, food, and practice areas for the Govinda teams.
With 14,000 Govindas having enrolled and an expected one lakh participants, this year’s festival guarantees to be spectacular.
